As small business owner with lots to do, have you skimped on marketing materials due to limited time and a limited budget? Are you artisan or performer/entertainer who needs to focus on your creative projects instead of business and marketing?

 

How to Start

Fees
Time based or per project rates are available. You will receive an estimate before the work begins so you know in advance what the cost will be. If you wish to cap the price at your maximum budget, that amount will be strictly adhered to.

Hourly Design & Writing Fees $25 to $40, depending on size and scope of the project.
How to save money getting your design or writing work done;

Be clear in your instructions. Provide the right information up front. If you wish to have specific fonts, colours, phrases or photos, make these requests at the start of the project.

Be prepared and be generous with details. Creating good copy from notes is a skill. Creating good copy out of thin air is an art. You pay a lot more for art.

Think ahead and plan efficiently. Since it takes time to learn your needs and wants, then get into the "design groove" of your project, you will pay less per piece if you request more than one item at a time. More can be accomplished in less time so you will benefit from that.

Be available for proofing and approving drafts. If you are efficient in looking at drafts and sending change requests promptly, you will pay less than if there is lag time in the project.

If you wish to negotiate a flat fee, please note these guidelines.
Flat fees are generally reserved for repeat clients or for short and simple projects.

Limited Changes Changes are limited to inaccuracies, not design style. This is is a good option when you know exactly what you want and can provide all graphics and copy at the start, or when you want something fully original and wish to give complete creative freedom.

Specific Guidelines The perameters of the project must be outlined clearly. Changes in size, content, word count and other crucial elements must remain as agreed upon at the start.

Proofing and Approvals Reviewing drafts and sending change requests promptly is essential, as will be agreed upon in advance. If not adhered to, extra charges will apply for wait time.

It IS possible within your budget!

Standard projects usually within this fee range;
Web Design: $60 to $100 per page, for a 4 to 12 page website.
Brochure Design: 8 1/2" x 11", two sided, 3 panel, 2 fold: $90 to $200
Media or Promo Kit: $250 - $350

Design Projects

Make a list of "must haves" in the piece such as your logo, colour preferences and photos. Collect a few examples of what general style you feel is appropriate. Make some notes about the content that needs to be in the piece. You're on your way!

Need a Biography?

Gather some facts such as a resume, a list of accomplishments, dates and places. Then, an interview will bring to light your unique personality so your written biography can be as original as you are

Writing Needs

What's the purpose of the piece? Where are you going to use it? What length (in words) should it be or what size of space should it fill? Who will be reading it? What are they key messages you want to convey? Answer those questions, then get in touch!
